Jennette Nielsen

Hello there. I’m Jennette. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. I live on unceded Coast Salish Snohomish territory and I’m a ritualist, animist and embodied folkloric wild woman. I’m also an Orphan Wisdom School scholar, community centered herbalist and a bee priestess, meaning, I have been tending the magical honeybees for many many moons now. As a mother who raised two sons, I have long studied earth-based ancestral skills alongside my boys and I enjoy botanical dyeing, making pottery, gardening, sewing, and am a multi passionate creative.

I completed the Masters of  Counseling Psychology program at Bastyr University and did my undergrad work at the University of Washington, receiving a Liberal Studies degree in Culture, Literature and the Arts. For many years I had a variety of fulfilling and satisfying adventures including: designing, hosting, guiding and facilitating women’s creative retreats worldwide in places like France, Ojai, New Orleans, and I traveled to India, Bali, Oaxaca, Costa Rica and Peru among other beautiful locales. I have attended potent thresholds of birth, death, and divorce as a doula. I am a former Fireside Project Psychedelic support line volunteer, a sexual assault advocate volunteer, and a hospice volunteer. And with over thirty years of relevant experience and devoted community service under my belt in a variety of fields, I come to the work of psychotherapy with a solid and balanced foundation of holistic attunement to your needs, wants, wishes and desires for healing, wholeness and resiliency.

As a fidelity trained Somatic Experiencing (SE) practitioner, completing the last tendrils of confirmation requirements, and pulling on my own lived experiences of deep grief and complex developmental trauma, I understand that it is through the body, in a “bottom up” approach, which informs the subconscious, that transformative healing and a renewed zest for life are accomplished. Alongside this favored modality you will find me inviting you into aspects “top down” work too, like that of parts work, otherwise known as Internal Family Systems (IFS), pillars of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), channels of Motivational Interviewing (MI), and offering psychoeducation on Attachment Theories and the functioning of your Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), including Polyvagal Theory, to meet your needs, goals and objectives.

With a culturally responsive, client-centered, anti-racist, intersectional and liberation focused approach, I will respectfully come alongside you in exploring your evolution, healing and growth for your wellbeing. My strengths include years of work with folks navigating relationships, anxiety, family dynamics, depression, ancestor work, grief of all kinds, life transitions, trauma processing (developmental, complex, sexual), creative blocks, attachment wounds, integration of psychedelic experiences, addiction, burnout, perfectionism, sexuality, gender expression, internalized oppression, spirituality and self discovery. I strive to look at the whole of your personhood, and the systems you are nested in, as we decide which therapeutic tools to use in our work together. Please do reach out if you’d like to schedule consultation with me to discover if I am a compatible clinician for you and your needs at this time. Thank you!
